Most of us have room to improve our communication with our coworkers, managers, and customers. Sometimes we are not aware of individual and cultural differences, and sometimes we forget that not everyone thinks the same.
This course asks that you examine your communication skills while considering any biases you may have. It also reviews cultural concerns, political correctness, problems associated with perceived rudeness and disrespect, and describes how to create positive communication in high-stress situations. At the end of this course you will be able to:
+ Describe examples of respectful communication and why it is essential in the workplace.+ Identify conditions that might contribute to a “climate of disrespect.”+ Define respect, cultural competence, and the terminology associated with individual differences and inclusion.+ Explain how understanding individual and cultural differences are inextricably tied to employee engagement and an organization’s bottom line.+ Describe behavior that promotes inclusive communication and positive actions in difficult or high-stress situations.
