CPE 5501 Fundamentals of Stormwater Management

Managing stormwater has been a concern throughout human history. In fact, archaeologists have found evidence that many ancient cultures had relatively sophisticated stormwater management systems.

Specifically, this course discusses methods for handling stormwater, decreasing run-off, and preventing erosion and other damage. At the end of this course you should be able to:

+ Understand the damage that stormwater can cause.

+ Recognize the importance of managing stormwater in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

+ Recognize the role of vegetation and man-made materials in stormwater management.

+ Understand the unique issues involved with stormwater management in large buildings and industrial properties.
