A green roof is a common term used for a roof that is covered with a special system of membranes and materials, culminating in a top layer of vegetation. Sometimes called vegetation roofs, eco-roofs, or living roofs, green roofs are usually topped off with a variety of slow growing grasses and plants native to the geographical area of the building.
This course will provide a foundational understanding of vegetative roofing systems, discussing the advantages of green roofing and explaining concepts of structure, layers, water management, plant selection and maintenance. At the end of this course you should be able to:
