Course Description

Workforce focus refers to how organizations enable employees in developing and utilizing their full potential as aligned with the organization’s objectives. Organizations work to build and maintain a climate conducive to excellence, full participation, and personal and organizational growth.

This course covers essential tools and concepts for helping you understand how workforce focus is related to organizational performance. At the end of this course you should be able to:

+ Explain the benefits of committing to a serious, systematic approach to performance management.
+ List key organizational elements (programs or practices) associated with employee education, training, and development that are a part of a comprehensive human resource management system.
+ Summarize at least two of the major theories of motivation and explain the relevance of those theories to human performance.
+ Describe specific actions that can be taken by an organizational leader to help create a motivational climate, employee well-being, and satisfaction.
+ Understand the Baldrige criteria for workforce focus excellence.
