While Lean Sigma concepts have their roots in manufacturing, studies have shown that similar results have been achieved in the financial services sector, healthcare, and throughout government. The focus of Lean Sigma as a continuous improvement methodology and process management strategy improves processes and eliminates waste.
This 12-hour online course covers essential knowledge areas and concepts for better understanding Lean Sigma tools and methodologies. The course shows how to apply the concepts to improve processes, eliminate waste, and enhance organizational performance. At the end of this online course, you will earn a Lean Sigma Yellow Belt certificate of completion.
Participants are encouraged to demonstrate what they learn by completing an additional simple hands-on application project for a common process of interest to them. It is expected that the total time invested for completion of the application project should be a minimum of 12 hours of effort beyond completion of the 12-hour online Lean Sigma: Yellow Belt course. The project may be completed individually or as a team.
At the end of this course, you should be able to:
+ Explain how Lean Sigma fits with other continuous improvement methodologies.+ Evaluate Lean Sigma tools and their intended use related to improving work processes.+ Describe how to apply Lean Sigma concepts and approaches to a practical application(s).+ Build skills in “A3” problem solving methodology including current state and future state analysis.+ Describe typical project report-out and presentation formats.
